A Series of Roundtables to Discuss the Results of AWRAD’s Poll on Youth 

AWRAD’s latest poll on Palestinian youth received unprecedented attention by the media, decision-makers and civil society and youth leaders. In addition, AWRAD organized a number of roundtables to ensure the highest levels of dissemination and impact:

  • Press Conference on Honor Killing (February 9, 2012): AWRAD, with the PA’s Ministry of Women Affairs, announced the results of its youth survey on women rights and gender equality before a large number of Palestinian and international media. Representatives of women and human rights organizations attended the press conference. Dr. Nader Said, AWRAD’s President, presented an analysis of the main results with a focus on the widespread support for abolishing the legal clause that provides leniency to murderers who kill women relatives on the basis of (family honor). Ms. Rabiha Diyad, the Minister of Women Affairs, applauded the AWRAD survey as a historic document that will serve as a tool for further advocacy and awareness to achieve legal equality.   • AWRAD & MIFTAH organize a roundtable with leaders of youth organizations (February 15, 2012): Twenty leaders of youth and civil society organizations convened to discuss the results of AWRAD polling on youth. After the results were announced, youth leaders discussed the implications of the results on their work with youth and on their advocacy efforts.   •    Young Political Leaders Discuss AWRAD’s Survey (February 16, 2012): young political leaders met at AWRAD to discuss the result of the AWRAD latest survey with youth. The focus was on the political participation of youth. Leaders were concerned about the relatively low registration rate for election among youth especially in Gaza.
