AWRAD: An Array of Activities in Morocco.

Report with Recommendations for Political Parties

AWRAD's Director, Dr. Nader Said – Foqahaa, presented the results of seven focus groups that were conducted earlier this year to the leaders of political parties in Morocco. The recommendations included in the report are the result of a consultative process with the active members of the parties who participated in seven focus groups organized in Casablanca. About 100 members, of the largest national parties, participated in the focus groups. In addition, the participants filled out a comprehensive questionnaire on the role of political parties in Moroccan economic, social and political development. They provided recommendations on the best means to develop the work of their parties. The report was received with great enthusiasm by party leaders.

AWRAD Trains Young Social Researchers

AWRAD, with IRI, had organized a three-day training workshop to train young social researchers in the field of focus groups. The training program consisted of in-class room activities and field training. The team of researchers had to carry out two real focus groups and learn from the experience. Dr. Nader Said – Foqahaa, was there to train, evaluate and guide. Lessons learned from the field experience were discussed with trainees. Eighteen young social researchers participated; half of them were young women.

AWRAD Launches its Comprehensive study on Political Party Reform in Morocco

In cooperation with IRI Morocco, AWRAD launched its comprehensive study on political party reform in Morocco. The focus of the study will be on party membership. Eighteen focus groups will be organized in three regions (Casablanca, Marrakech, and Fes). Six political parties are involved in the study. In addition, a survey of 600 questionnaires will be carried out. The survey will assess how party members and sympathizers perceive the various issues relating to their parties. A comprehensive socio-economic and political profile for members will be obtained.
