هويتنا

Local-led research with unmatched regional reach English

Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD), established in 2007 and formally registered in Palestine, Syria, and the United States, is a leading independent research, evaluation, and third-party monitoring firm headquartered in Ramallah. AWRAD’s mission is to generate reliable, actionable data that informs humanitarian response, public policy, and development strategy in fragile and conflict-affected settings. Our team is distinguished by strong local roots, deep regional experience, and strict adherence to international best practices in social research, including ethical guidelines and child safeguarding protocols. Operating across Palestine and the broader MENA region and particularly in conflict-affected areas such as Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, and Jordan. AWRAD has built a strong track record of delivering high-quality, timely, and ethically grounded research services. Our work with UN agencies, INGOs, and development partners is consistently marked by methodological rigor, responsiveness to evolving crisis dynamics, and a commitment to safeguarding and accountability, even in contexts marked by displacement, insecurity, and limited access.

Overall Approach and Core Principles English

Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement English

AWRAD places strong emphasis on collaboration with key stakeholders throughout the assignment. This includes close coordination with the contracting authority, relevant government institutions, implementing partners, civil society organizations, professional associations, and community representatives. Through continuous consultation and transparent communication, AWRAD ensures that the study design, data collection process, and interpretation of findings remain aligned with sector priorities and stakeholder expectations. This collaborative approach strengthens ownership of the results and enhances the practical uptake of recommendations.

Community-Centered Approach English

AWRAD’s work is grounded in the principle that affected communities and frontline actors are essential sources of knowledge. Local voices—including service users, community leaders, frontline workers, and sector practitioners—are integrated into the assessment process through consultations, interviews, and participatory methods. By placing communities at the center of the analysis, AWRAD ensures that findings reflect lived realities and local priorities while strengthening the relevance, legitimacy, and sustainability of the results.

Methodological Rigor and Evidence-Based Analysis English

All assignments are guided by robust methodological frameworks combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. AWRAD applies internationally recognized research and evaluation standards to ensure validity, reliability, and analytical depth. Triangulation of multiple data sources—including document reviews, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, surveys, and administrative data—ensures comprehensive and balanced findings. Analytical frameworks are tailored to the specific objectives of each assignment while remaining aligned with international standards and sector best practices.

Conflict-Sensitive and Context-Aware Methodology English

AWRAD recognizes that many operating environments are complex, politically sensitive, or affected by fragility and conflict. Our approach therefore incorporates conflict sensitivity, cultural appropriateness, and operational flexibility. Research activities are designed to minimize risk, avoid exacerbating tensions, and ensure that participation is voluntary, respectful, and safe. The “Do No Harm” principle guides all stages of the research process.

Inclusive and Equity-Focused Analysis English

AWRAD integrates an inclusive analytical lens across all assignments to ensure that diverse experiences and perspectives are captured. Data collection and analysis will, where relevant, disaggregate findings by gender, age, disability status, socioeconomic status, and other relevant characteristics. Particular attention is given to marginalized and underrepresented groups to ensure that their perspectives are adequately reflected in the findings and recommendations.

Adaptive Management and Operational Flexibility English

Recognizing that project environments and operational conditions may evolve, AWRAD adopts an adaptive management approach that allows methodologies and field plans to be adjusted when necessary while maintaining methodological integrity. Continuous communication with the client and stakeholders ensures that any adjustments remain aligned with project objectives and timelines.

Security and Communication Systems English

AWRAD maintains strong operational systems to ensure continuity of research activities in diverse contexts. Field teams operate within structured coordination mechanisms supported by secure communication channels and clear reporting lines with the central project management team. These systems ensure real-time coordination, efficient troubleshooting, and uninterrupted implementation of field activities.

Safety and Risk Management English

The safety of participants and research staff is a top priority. AWRAD conducts ongoing risk assessments and ensures that field activities are implemented only in conditions that meet safety and ethical standards. Operational decisions—including team movement, data collection modalities, and scheduling—are informed by real-time contextual updates and established contingency protocols.

Data Protection and Privacy English

AWRAD adheres to strict international standards for data protection and confidentiality. All data collected during the assignment are encrypted during transmission, anonymized to protect respondent identities, and stored on secure platforms accessible only to authorized project personnel. Data management procedures comply with international data protection regulations, including GDPR where applicable.

Ethical Standards English

Ethical integrity underpins all of AWRAD’s research and evaluation activities. Participation in data collection activities is voluntary and based on informed consent. Safeguarding protocols are applied to ensure the dignity, safety, and well-being of all respondents. Particular care is taken when engaging vulnerable populations to ensure that the research process does not expose participants to harm, distress, or unintended consequences.
